Dear loyal and supportive Friends of the Drexel …
This week Governor Kasich signed into law the state capital improvement budget – the first of its kind in several years – and I am delighted to report that the Drexel Theatre will receive $150,000 to be applied toward our capital campaign for the complete renovation of the theatre. We owe a debt of gratitude to the Governor for recognizing the importance of the arts as an integral factor in our quality of life. Others who we should especially thank are Ohio’s legislative leaders and our central Ohio legislative delegation who supported our funding request on a bipartisan basis as well as CAPA, who shepherded our request as part of their Columbus-theatres combined capital campaign. Let me also thank CCAD president Denny Griffith, who skillfully chaired the statewide committee that received and prioritized hundreds of arts requests from all corners of Ohio.
The Drexel will always be home for independent cinema in Central Ohio. Our content is superb (go see Grand Budapest Hotel this weekend …) In the meantime, we’re thrilled to report this “down payment” on our planned renovation. On behalf of our Board of Directors, thank you for your continuing support.
