On the second Saturday of each month, we show The Room at midnight. If you’ve ever attended a screening of this “so bad it’s great” film, you know all about throwing plastic spoons and enjoying an evening of fun with your friends. If you’ve never seen The Room at the Drexel, it’s more than worth the reduced price of admission.

Given our success with movies in the wee hours (our annual 24-hour Sci-Fi Marathon is also a hit), we thought that we should offer even more. So beginning in September, on the fourth Saturday of each month, we will host a great film as part of our new “Late Night” series. Here’s the line-up through the end of the year:

– Troll 2 (1990) – Saturday, September 28th

– The Big Lebowski (1998) – Saturday, October 26th

– This Is Spinal Tap (1984) – Saturday, November 23rd

– Die Hard (1988) – Saturday, December 28th

Most film fans are familiar with the last three (“I’m the Dude, man”, “These go to eleven”, and “Yippee-ki-yay, . . .”, respectively). If Troll 2 doesn’t ring a bell, there is actually a documentary that explains all you need to know about this cult classic, Best Worst Movie (2009), which is currently available on Netfilx.

We are very much looking forward to this new series. Stay tuned for times and even more info as we head into the fall!

FUN FACT: According to IMDB.com, Bruce Willis was the sixth choice for the main character in Die Hard. It originally went to Arnold Schwarzenegger, then Sylvester Stallone, then Burt Reynolds, then Richard Gere, then Harrison Ford, then Mel Gibson. We can’t imagine it with anyone else!
