Holiday Classics raises food for Mid-Ohio Foodbank

December 23, 2011

George Bailey lassoed the moon last Wednesday night at the Drexel and a nearly full-house enjoyed It's A Wonderful Life the way it was originally meant to be seen, with an audience, in a darkened movie theatre, and on the big screen. "This is the best Christmas movie ever made," said Drexel patron Anne Seran. "There was such a sense of community seeing it in a neighborhood theatre."

Over the past two weeks we've had some spectacular holiday spirit on display. Our Drexel Holiday Classic showings brought in over 700 movie fans of all ages for 6 special screenings of Elf and It's A Wonderful Life. That's a lot of folks willing to pay up to $6.00 to see two older films that are on TV for free. Movegoers enjoyed an animated holiday Sing-A-Long, Christmas movie trivia, and the two holiday movies. Even more important, over 1400 pounds of food was donated to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and their charitable networks. This is the seventh consecutive year we've asked our loyal patrons to help us help the needy in Central Ohio and the response has been tremendous!

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank everyone who came out and supported our annual holiday movie events. We'll be bringing it back again next year, so if you missed it, make a note in your calendar now.
